A Real Friend

A Real Friend

A real friend stands, if ever I saw one,
Who seeks you out when you are not around;
Though hurt you call not, still the race is run,
He waits in patience till you can be found.
He stays quite happy, reaching other friends,
Yet feels a sting when you neglect his care;
Glad that you live, he makes to you amends,
And tells his place in case you are not there.
He gives his numbers, knowing you won't call,
But leaves them just in case you need a hand;
And asks you please to reach him, one and all,
A loving soul, the best within the land.
   God bless this friend, if you have one so true,
   For such a rare companion, keep him too.
